read my story!
(it’s complicated, but not very long)
My background spans visual arts, food and hospitality, communications, and publishing. After meandering through several post-secondary programs, beginning with Life Sciences at the University of Toronto, and a short stop at Toronto Metropolitan University’s Fashion Communications program along the way, I ended up in Baking and Pastry Arts Management at George Brown Polytechnic. It’s there where I was able to apply my creative instincts, and understand my own artistic lens better.
After completing the program, I began to manage and work on store operations, brand identity development, social media accounts, partnerships, and campaign development for consumer-facing businesses. And, as a co-founder and creative director of two of my own businesses, I've shaped cohesive identities across branding, photography, content, and design.
In the early days of my creative journey, from the ages of eight to eighteen, I was first formally trained in the visual arts, and later amassed a niche following online, independently publishing poetry and long-form television commentary, and curating visual galleries. During the height of TikTok’s popularity, I was a micro-influencer and made short-form comedic content about the Chinese-Canadian experience. Due to my passion for the visual arts and digital communications, I tried to pursue Graphic Design at George Brown as well. That ultimately didn’t satisfy me, because from all my experiences, I have come to understand that what I value is creating experiences and translating feelings into something tangible.
Now, with my newfound love for transforming philosophy into lived narrative, I am on my way to completing my bachelor’s degree at the University of Toronto, double majoring in psychology and philosophy. I also currently work as a digital content and communications assistant for the university’s Centre for Entrepreneurship. Alongside that, I write literary fiction, philosophical poetry, and essays, with one award and four published pieces to date. Rooted in the belief that digital content is meant to be experienced, not observed, everything I do is grounded in a phenomenological sensibility, with a soft spot for lifestyle, literature, film, fashion, and music.
